Currently, I am involved in an education forum with the Federal Government called National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE).  This forum discussed the needs for cyber security education starting at the high school through higher education.  My role is to help identify the requirements for cyber security training, including STEM, so to ensure students can meet the growing need in the information technology field.
I am also interested in volunteering as a STEM Scout Leader in the Chicago area.

  1. The overall importance of STEM education is essential for students looking to receive the education to give them the required skills to succeed in today’s technology-driven workforce.  Organizations and society will suffer if STEM education is not in the forefront for student’s education.
  2. All students should have the opportunity to receive STEM education and this is not the case, either because of funding or other social issues.
  3. It is imperative for leadership to create these opportunities and ensure their is a level playing field for all students.

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Education (STEM) and how providing this education to students will impact future generations.  President Obama stated that Science is more than a school subject, or the periodic table, or the properties of waves. It is an approach to the world, a critical way to understand and explore and engage with the world, and then have the capacity to change that world..."  My goal is to help better understand how STEM education will contribute to influence the leaders of the future.
